A local Texas GOP leader has died from COVID-19 just days after questioning the effectiveness of vaccines in a Facebook post. Dickinson City Council member and State Republican Executive Committee member H. Scott Apley died Wednesday morning, per The Daily Beast. https://t.co/94rw3p9AOL

‘In 6 months, we’ve gone from the vax ending the pandemic, to you can still get Covid even if vaxxed, to you can pass Covid onto others even if vaxxed, to you can still die of Covid even if vaxxed, to the unvaxxed are killing the vaxxed,’ read Apley’s final post.

In April, Apley called CNN medical expert Dr. Leana Wen an ‘enemy of the people’ on Twitter for a tweet she posted advocating for vaccine adoption.

A GoFundMe set up for the Apley family expenses says he was ‘admitted to UTMB Galveston with pneumonia-like symptoms and tested positive for COVID-19’ on Sunday, August 1. The page says he had been hooked up to a ventilator and was sedated.

According to the post, Apley leaves behind his wife Melissa, who also tested positive but has not been hospitalized, as well as their infant son Reid. The Galveston County Republican Party confirmed Apley’s death on Wednesday in a statement.
