Singapore moments (Oct 2022):
I’ve been eating at this hawker centre since it was a little shack with a longkang and a zinc roof, since before these buildings were there. I’m in line for my favorite curry laksa. (Wei Yi Laksa) https://t.co/Yo6OV3gOib
There are many types of laksa. Across Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and elsewhere. Anyone who is too serious about their version being the only version is unserious.
This is mine (and my comfort food): a seafoody savory broth that’s not as thick as the Katong Peranakan style that most tourists know. Has poached chicken, like in Ipoh and parts of Johor. It’s the first thing I eat when I return, always. I won’t call it the best. But it is mine.
I don’t enjoy ‘breakfast food’ in the west because this is my idea of a perfect breakfast. Opens at 5:30am, lines form immediately

This uncle has a statue of a dog with some offerings next to where they have the prayer offerings for the dead and I’m afraid to ask if that was a statue of his dog https://t.co/m1agd5hu0Z
