In 1970 @Wendys invented the Drive Thru. Today they announced they will be the first to launch @pipedream_labs "Instant Pickup".
We've been super open about our mission to make hyperlogistics possible this decade, but our short-term roadmap has been in stealth. Quick Thread: https://t.co/Jothc9p26H
Pipedream's mission is to make hyperlogistics possible this decade. A city reaches hyperlogistics when you can have things delivered reliably in under 10 minutes for less than a dollar, & send things back just as easily as you received them. More here:

What was missing to make this work was a system that allowed objects to move in/out of buildings and through/in-between cities as cheaply and easily as running water. We have been laser focused on building that system and making it as cheap and easy to implement as possible. https://t.co/GDg9VSTAay
Instant Pickup plays an important role in this. The best thing about it is it solves both an immediate and long term problem.
First, retailers loved curbside pickup, but the labor to make it convenient was too expensive. Instant Pickup solves this for them.
But Instant Pickup also solves a much bigger problem.
Doordash President @chrispa has said the hardest problem in automated logistics is that: "The first 100, and last 100 feet is impossible to meaningfully close through automation today."
Instant Pickup solves this as well. https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1658894219115724801
Once an order enters the system in back of house, it can then be quickly sent to any Portal on that network to be hand-off to a customer/delivery driver, or, eventually, a self-driving car, drone, or even directly into a cities pipedream network. All without a human in the loop.
We'll launch Instant Pickup by EOY, & announce more locations/partners soon, but still have a lot to learn to make it a world class product.
Super excited to launch & start getting feedback from users! As always, hit us with any thoughts/criticism, it will make us better!
Going to start talking about the short-term playbook more. Historically, have gotten the best feedback, partners, and co-workers from being way to open on Twitter, so stoked to get back to it!
Got a LONG way to go from here, but y'alls support means the world.
NONE of this is possible without our Twitter community. Appreciate y'all more than you know. Thanks for everything 💙
